After researching more you need to put a 8kohn resistor betwwen
+12v and ground for the heater wires to the ecu.

Re: Guide: How to change from rev2 to rev3 ecu, see inside
I have read that this modifcation gives you around 25rwhp.
also it gets rid of tvis.

Reminds me i need to find out about how to gut the tvis plate, anybody got any info.

thanks

What would gutting the TVIS plate do?

So add a resistor to that list!

MR2Lover, well done for this! That's what I like to see
- someone giving something back to IMOC!!

Re: Guide: How to change from rev2 to rev3 ecu, see inside
Gutting the tvis block gets rid of the fins which are found in the tvis plate.

These fins block airflow on some of the runners to give more lower down torque.
but the tvis controller isn't the best thing on the 3sgte engine and i have read that sometimes the fins become a bit sticky causing problems.

When removing these fins, the power curve will be alot smoother.

although these wont really be a restristion to around 350bhp it is worth removing as tvis is not present in the rev3 ecu controls.

They're all my drawings and hard work

Hi JJ

I got the drawings of Andi, so wasn't to know you did those drawing but THANKS, as if it wasn't for them i would be stuck.

LEGEND

I just added some more info which i have researched on the mr2oc.com

Does eveything seem correct JJ?

Re: Guide: How to change from rev2 to rev3 ecu, see inside

there is no need to get hold of a rev3 O2 sensor all you need to do is just hook up the signal wire comming out the 02 sensor to the signal wire

And if you dont' hook up the 02 probe correctly, you will get an error code which will be stored in the ecu.

Re: Guide: How to change from rev2 to rev3 ecu, see inside
would the resistor not just work JJ then?

Hey fellar, the only thing I'm uncertained with are the abs models.

The only other thing you've missed off which would make it a true rev 3 setup is the fuel pressure regulator.

I was going to do one for the rev 1, but theres a considerable amount of pins to relocate and at the time, i didn't have time to do it.

I'll double check on them drawings, i'm sure I revised it once more time.

Sure it would, if you know the corrent resistance of the heater

If theres a major benefit in doing this rev 3 conversion is certainly the fuel consumption front.

Hey JJ

I Dont have ABS either so do i just cut and leave that pin or ground it, like some people have to with the power steering pinout.

With regards to the fuel pressure reg i will just leave my rev2 one in there as i would prefer to have it a little rich to cool the clyinders more.
plus im going to get a power fc soon next year so i can alter the fuelling then.
At least it wont run as rich as the standard rev2 ecu does.

The plans i have are labelled
"REV2VsRev3ECUD" in powerpoint presentation.

Thanks matey

Re: Guide: How to change from rev2 to rev3 ecu, see inside
I saw a few excel spreadsheets kicking about with an array of numbers.
.
I checked each one of them thoroughly and the handful I checked had errors in them.
Not trusting anyones information, I set my own up.
.
.
I'm a firm believer in my own work
!!

The whole pin relation in a spreadsheet format was too difficult to the eye, you had to spend an hour just getting your head around it.

Thats why i went for diagrams.
.
.
much easier.
.
.
and you can just grab the front sheet and carry out the conversion.
The rest is just backup for those that like to question it
!

Any issues with the drawings, ask me
!
I've done one for those that fit aftermarket map sensors and a few odds and sods.
.
.
will have to dig them up
!
