Re: Mid life crisis solved!... I hope :)
So dealing with an ABS issue as well as what I think might be a faulty alternator this week
(See other post)
,
but in the mean time wanted to update the thread with other work already carried out as I prep for the track.

Tidied up the frunk and engine bay just to make presentable, nothing fancy.

Was reading up on aero and seems that without front wheel arch liners and under tray it can cause some lift at speed.
Figured I would counteract that so started to build out an alloy under tray for the boarder bumper.

I also spotted the Rogue mod for brake ducts which makes good use of the left and right air intakes on the new bumper and would avoid high flow air from collecting inside the bumper area itself.

Ran the air duck from the hub through to bumper and cable tied
(used metal cable ties for brake hub
)

Made up a shrouds for pipework and to cover the air intake and bonded them to the bumper.
Fed pipes through shroud and again used cable ties to ensure they do not slip out.
finally wrapped any remaining gaps with duct tape.

Put aside under tray for now as I needed to finish prep for paint.
Original Super Red all round.

Re: Mid life crisis solved!... I hope :)
Ok, so this post bring me right up to date now.

Weekend before last I got my uncle over with his compressor and paint gun to give the car its colour.
No great expectations given we painted the car outside and you cannot control flies dive bombing the car and spring blossom blowing all over the place
.

That said I was surprised how good the paint came out.
We did 3 coats of base, then 3 clear coats.
Still in need of a final polish with a rubbing compound and I see a few area's that I feel need sorting out, but given its going to be a track car I'm pretty happy overall.

Tonight, I put finishing touches to the under tray I had started a few weeks back.

Next few week I plan to finish those few area's of paint I want to sort out, but main objective now is to get the car onto the road and ensure that all runs as hoped, also want to sort tracking, balance tyre's and give the engine a good run as till now its only been warmed up on the driveway a few times.

Pretty sure the MR2 has a few more surprises for me to work on before it lets me loose on track, but have to say the last 6 months have been a blast getting the car to its current point.

Passed MOT with only advisory slight cracking on one tyre wall.
Told me car should have CAT but given he could not find the engine on computer he tested as non CAT

time to shake it down!

Hey folks, been a long while.
After seven years post my initial restoration project.
I have now decided to sell on my car to a new home and hopefully someone who can continue to look after and keep these modern classics on the road and out of the parts bins.

Had the car MOT’ed this week and the garage let me know I had only done 5 miles since it’s last MOT in 2019.
I’ve kept it off the road in recent years as it was only taken out for the odd track day by trailer.
Will be advertised shortly on Autotrader, but if anyone on this forum is seriously interested then send me a quick PM.

For those interested it’s worth also noting that in early 2017 I took the car to well known Toyota performance specialists Fensport in Cambridge.
I treated the MR2 to an engine overhaul as well as a stage 3 tune to my CT26 turbo.
Really sharpened up the engine and added that extra bit of response and personality without going over the top.
The old school HKS dump value continues to sound as good as ever!
