Noticed a slight misfire on my MR2 on idle. When revved / driven its fine just on idle it backfires / misfires slightly.

How old are the plugs? Has it been stood for a while? Any water build up around the plugs?
If in doubt, I would just start with the basics; get some decent new plugs, leads and a dizzy etc. Even if it doesn't need it all, it future proof's these items as well as ruling them out if it's something else.
Does it clear or get any better when the car is hot? Or better/worse when cold?

Check the coil for cracks, usually they split allowing moisture in.
With the engine running if you have a grab around the coil you will probably get a zap from it.
Not a great idea but that is how I found the last faulty coil.
Safer to just remove and inspect it.

Already had it zap me earlier
