It's a long old road glad your nearly there. I'v only just finished mine after about the same time as you, 359hp at 1.35bar. Remind me what turbo and boost you're going with.

Yeah no kidding man, Having said that the car sat for 2 years without even getting looked at. Total build time is about 2 years still though!
It's a borg warner s252sx-e. Whatever boost gets me to 480bhp (400whp) is what I'll be running

It does work but it's a link to an escort build? ð It is 3sgte powered?
Re: My 400whp saga, 373whp after mapping.
Watch it a bit longer.

Ah that is awesome man!! That must be a hoot at 359bhp!! What's the specs?
Re: My 400whp saga, 373whp after mapping.
Great fun to drive, every time i pickup the keys my heart starts to beat quicker and i think, is this the day i die lol. It actually drives just like the mr2 but you have this old 1972 shell around you. Bit of a wolf in sheep's clothes. It gets the power down better than the Cosworth powerd mk1's and is a lot more reliable.

That's awesome man!! Quite a reserved power figure considering the spec. My apec is much the same except for the slightly bigger turbo. Think mine is the equivalent of a gt3082.
Re: My 400whp saga, 373whp after mapping.
With all the time, money and effort we put into these engines when I took it to the mapper I told him to stop at whatever comes first, 350hp or 1.5 bar. I couldn't bear to hear the engine screaming so an hour later after I'd been to the burger van he told me he'd stopped at 1.35 bar and it was making 360hp. All it's vitals looked good so when this wears off I'll take it to 1.5 bar and see what it makes. Can't wait to hear how you get on with that bigger turbo. Do yourself a favour, go to the burger van!

Yeah I'm not sure I want to see the mapping being done or not. That being said I have done nearly 1000 faultless miles now. I did have one issue when my wastegate stuck closed and I hit 30psi. There was about 30 miles on the engine when that happened ð¤®ð¤®ð¤® I do have a lot of faith in the engine.

Re: My 400whp saga, 373whp after mapping.
Well, Here we go I guess. Now that the day has arrived I'm absolutely terrified! As much as I'd like to see 400 at the wheels I'm just npt all that fussed about it now. The car's been off the road too long and while I've enjoyed running it in, It's just not been great to drive so driving away from here even being able to use a bar of boost (wastegate pressure) I'll be happy with! Whatever happens today happens.
Fingers crossed!

Good luck it'll be fine

Re: My 400whp saga, 373whp after mapping.
Well today is not 480bhp day! Smoke test revealed a leak at the i let manifold. I use a phenolic spacer and when i was researching them was told NOT to use any gaskets. Turns out that was rubbish ha! Sooooo....2 gaskets ordered and rebooked for the 23rd. He did set the fuelling and timing up properly so i have a very useable car just now at about 1bar of boost. He initially thought the inlet mani flange was warped so i may give it a skim anyway. I'm kinda glad as i can now give the car a proper bit of abuse and a proper shakedown before I go back. Just glad the car never blew up on the rollers I guess
Re: My 400whp saga, 373whp after mapping.
Well at least it is a simple fix, you can get that done and hopefully reach your goal

Re: My 400whp saga, 373whp after mapping.
yeah it's really no big issue. They only charged me half of a full mapping session for today and it's £100 per hour when I go back. So no loss at all today. Car is driving beautifully. Just like a stock rev3 turbo to be honest

A full map is £450, They only charged £200. Then when I go back it's an hourly rate as it won't take nearly as long since the bulk of the mapping has been done.

Re: My 400whp saga, 373whp after mapping.
car's away to the paint shop tomorrow. Due to the work needed around the t-bar area and sills it's looking unlikely i'll have it back by the 23rd so will have to move my next mapping session. I am however very much looking forward to having it painted again. Any suggestions for shades of yellow? I don't want liquid yellow again. Tempted to go back to solar yellow.
