Mate, take out RAC tow me anywhere.
Wait 48 hours.
Drive 1/4 mile from home. Tell them it's failed oil pump and specialist has just worked on it and liable. They won't oven open bonnet and tow you up there on a flatbed.... you don't even need to be with the car. My membe is £50.
Mine was a legitimate breakdown, but all the same.

The quotes my way legit ? Lol
Yeah, I've only used it for short distances though, I didn't need the Manchester quote in the end. Usually it's independent guys with a transit based transporter or similar. Sometimes it'll be someone with a low loader taking a couple cars at once, and rarely it'll be a company with a HGV, and they'll move several cars at once.

You know what this is a very good idea, I did the exact same thing
When I had the issue with the brakes. Took the car 1/4 mile away from the house and eventually got it low loadered to the garage that fitted all the new
Brake setup. I have full AA membership and it does say they will take you
"Anywhere in the U.K." !
I'm gonna call them tomorrow and say the above, and ask for some poor
F**ker from the AA to drive it to Leeds lol. Can't hurt to ask !?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] White Smoke from Turbo !?
Nope it's fine. So, only thing us that it won't go same day. They're only allowed to go 150 miles or something. So it's taken back to depot then loaded onto a multi car and shipped up. Takes 3-4 days.
I did that Brighton to leeds no problem. Just say oil pressure light on engine must NOT be turned over or will invalidate warranty. They then won't touch it.
But be warned..... I waited 2 hours for the first guy to come, to them order a flatbed. That took a further 4 HOURS to arrive. I was stranded roadside from 5.45 until 12.45am ...... with a genuine problem. So park near a McDonald's or something

Well it just so happens that I've managed to break down outside the local pub ! Can you believe it ! Lol same place as last time !
I'm gonna get the other quotes together first , pick who it's going with and then get dates booked, and will use this route of getting the car there to whoever it goes to !

Its certainly looking like my option going forward, will wait till tomorrow
for Nispro's estimate, but at the moment I cannot see anyone beating
Simon @ YVS for cost or knowledge on the 3S-GTE either, and thats a good
combonation !

I've cracked a forged block before......so for me personally i don't like going anything above an 86mm standard size piston now as the walls are thin as standard anyway.
Depending how bad your cracked ringland is you might get away with dropping 86mm pistons in......IF the bores do need some work i'd sack that block off and rebuild your bottom end on a good condition NA block with 86mm pistons.

Pretty sure thats already sold on fb
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] White Smoke from Turbo !?
Deposit taken - worth getting in line though.. there's some good toys on that which will take you into the big numbers to build.

Did yours crack at the waterpump, or between 2&3? Was it a rev 3 block?

Funny you say that pal, literally nearly word for word on what Simon at YVS
mentioned to me earlier. We will only know when he inspects the block.
He is also very dubious about going oversized. but said if had to then 86.25mm
pistons are a good option.
Or again potential for using the NA block, which he explained to me is identical.
never knew that !

Received the quote from Nispro, much more like it price wise.
But I still think YVS would be a better bet ?
What you guys think. Similar of not the same price.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] White Smoke from Turbo !?
Aiming to get the car taken by AA this Sunday, however does anyone know
If once I get the engine built and the car is ready to collect from YVS
That I'll be able to drive back on the current map ?
Simon said the engine will need about 300miles worth of running in before it's fine to go full Hoon ! , but will the map cause any damage to a recently forged
Engine ?
I have the OEM ECU still , but running a Link G4 storm I'm assuming
Walton had to addapt the harness and I couldn't just plug the Toyota ECU
Back in if needed ?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] White Smoke from Turbo !?
itll be absolutely fine to drive on that map.
one thing I would say is this.... To run an engine in properly, it needs load, it needs you to go up and down the gears, lots of engine braking and lots of acceleration from low down (no labouring of the engine though!)
which might prove a problem on a 200? mile journey from Sherburn to your home via the motorways

set route home to exclude motorways?

I think that will have to be the case ! I'll collect it on a nice weekend and maybe make a road trip out of the journey back. Might do it over two days and stay at a hotel in a nice town on the way back.
After the 300 miles run in Simon advised , its best to do a oil and filter change right ?

I cracked either 1 or 4 (cannot remember now) right on the water way so as soon as i gave it any boost it pressurised the system.... then on start up a huge cloud of white smoke. rev3 bottom end i think but they are all crazy thin.
