I had this problem i had a vac leak on the back of the manifold .. for a good year i adjusted the afm screw (out i think) to get the car to idle and run .. i also cranked up fuel pressure a touch ... cant believe it took me so long to find a vac leak ](*,)

Good luck :thumleft:

Jusg got my self Another problem. i was searching for air leaks an the car did wat i Always have dune. starts for some seconds ant then stops. when it stops i can hear the airflap in the afm Closes. suddenly it does not starts at all and i cant hear the pump anymore and the fuel gauge does not work from this moment. what happend??? fuel pump is brand new as i changed it for this conversion. is there anymore fuses then the one in the Engine bay box. i crossed b? and fc in the diagnose socket but no pump works.

It's b+ and fp to make the pump run. The afm will close when the engine cuts out as there's no vacuum to keep it open.

If you turn the ignition on so the dash lights come on and use a screwdriver to open the afm flap does the fuel pump run?

none of those works
B+ and fp does nothing and opening the airflap does nothing.
i also have a spare afm but that does not help either.
however i made a Little progress, i changed the Circuit opening relay and now the pump runs when i crank it and not get it started but leaves the ignition on afterr crank, it did this Before so i Think thats normal.
but it still does not start, and there is spark.

so now it worked for a short while.
after i changed the cor relay the pupm worked.
i then changed the EFI relay as i had a spare one. it fired up again as before, a few second anthen stops id di tis for like 3-4 times and then its dead again. it looks like it kills the efi relays. the fuse is ok its the relay that dies.

Paul Woods again

Post by Gimbaz »

Well wat can you say. Paul Woods at woodsports is the real professional mr2 Mecanic or toyota for that matter.
he has done it once again.
for two years almost i have been struggeling with my mr2 turbo that wont run proper. i have had many helpfull tips but none of it helped. i have bought new parts etc without any success. then i desided to call Paul and after 30 minutes the Engine is running. he even had the wiring in his memory. i cant tell him how greatfull i am for all his help.
if you ever have any toyota problem, dont hesitate to visit woodsports.
thanks once again Paul, if it wasnt for you i wouldnt have the car running for weeks .
kind regards Daniel
