Cleaning the Engine Bay

Hard work

It really depends on what condition it is in, the engine bay is a dirty place so if you want it clean your best bet is to get in there with a clean rag and some kitchen cleaner. for the most part.. Once the majority of the dirt is off i use

SP Wonderspray for the plastics

T-Cut Original Metal Polish for any metal chrome parts

Making the engine bay look good is a huge amount of work.

only true way to get things looking nice is to get them polished, or paint them.

getting into all the nooks is a nightmare with everything attached to the car.

It is true. Many things are missing, or been relocated to the boot.

Last things I did was the coolant neck mod. That removed a lot of hard piping and hosing, i also rewired and stripped a lot of wires from the engine harness all the way to the ecu, which ment my diag port and map sensor got moved to the boot.

Little things like rerouting the engine lid cable, abs sensor harness, even fuel lines all frees up space.

Did you find the canister delete created a smell of fumes in the summer?

Also, by removing the catch can to intake pipe.. does that end up getting past the filter and making the bay grubby with a fine mist of oil?

the canister delete, as long as you connect the top and bottom hoses when you remove it, any smell should still be going through the oem gas tank filter which sits next to the fuel filter.
i personally dont notice any smells with it setup like this, not even a wiff.
i removed all the hardlines that go up to the canister location too, so now the hosing/piping is just looped by the fuel filter.
is another reason why this area is bare.
(obviously never block these lines).

my oem catchcan hose that usually goes to the intake, i simply point that down by the gearbox, open to atmos, i dont even use a breather filter (as this quickly clogs, restricting the gases), i literally have it pointing down and away. i dont notice any gunk/crap in the area, though probably helps the engines in good health.

from this you can conclude i have no piping going to the intake, not even the idle line, which again frees up space as i then had no need for the engine hook and all the attached hardlines by the dizzy (that hold/route the bov/a/c,idle/iscv piping etc).
