Staggered track tyre set up?

Post by auzzam »

Hi guys,

So I have the stock 15" staggered wheels. (6.5/7.5)

The tyres on the front are 195 and the rear 205 - which I'm sure is not right, should there be 225s on the back?

Anyway I wanted to ask when looking at track tyres can I get away with using the same size tyre on both the front and back e.g 205s all round? as most of the sets I'm looking at come in 4 and non staggered.

They're purely going to be used for circuit racing and driving to and from there.

Thoughts?

No, always maintain the stagger,

I would put 205 on the front and 215 on the rear.. or 215 on front and 225 on the rear..

Although i'm unsure if that'll fit on standard wheels. Might be a bit bulgy.

I can't really remember. Stagger is important though as these car are a bit tail happy

Thanks guys.

Is it possible to mix and match, so have Advans on the front and Toyos on the back?

or is it best advised to by all 4 from the same manufacturer

I'd say its best to go with the same tyre all round

100% do not put 215 on the back and also do not mix up tyres on an mr2. =; :thumleft:

Thanks guys, will try go for the 205/225 approach.

I'm guessing that alone will make it handle much better than the 195/205 setup at the moment! :thumleft:
