Can anyone pipe bend?

Post by androo007 »

Hi guys,

As I start to tidy up the engine bay I noticed the charge cooler kit I bought dantheman didn't tell me he had half crushed one of the pipes out of shape. Great.

So I'm wondering....with all the skilled people on here, can anyone pipe bend? It's a 63mm stainless pipe, the one with the blue silicone in the picture below.... would really appreciate if someone would be able to perform some magic on a pipe I supplied?

Cheers

any local exhaust fabricator - longlife, powerflow etc will be able to replicate the pipe for you. you'll need to get beads rolled onto the ends, or a bead of weld ran around it to stop hoses from blowing off under boost.

just how bad is the damage? where exactly on the pipe is it? it's quite probable that it could be massaged out unless it's totally wrecked

Just buy a 90 degree ali bend and a short section of straight ali, cut them to fit then get them welded at a local fabricators- even better if the straight has beads at each end :thumleft:

Cheers guys. It's not that bad - I couldn't squeeze it back by hand. How would you recommend getting it back to shape? I'd say about 8" of the pipe one end is misformed. Not bad, but enough to disrupt how the silicon sits.

Looks as though the pipes have been thrown on a gravel driveway and repeatedly jumped on with the dimples in the pipes. Don't understand some people......

That will polish out so not concerned but wanted to get pipe round again. I can pull out tonight to show you
