What items to change in a good service?

Post by ste_brough »

Hi all,

Picked up a rev 5 Non-turbo mr2 and everything sounds right but just doesn't feel very quick. Not a lot of urgency to accelerate if that makes sense?

So I was thinking give it a good service, and was wondering what should I be looking to change as part of it?

I'd be changing:-

Oil + filter
Spark plugs
Dizzy cap rotor arm
Check the timing + error codes
Coolant depending on colour

As a minimum :thumleft:

Non turbos need to be high up in the revs to keep it in the power band which can take a bit of time to get used to. They are pretty nippy when you give them the full beans though

Check ignition coil
Air filter
Check state of CAT
Check battery charge and alternator functioning
Fuel filter
Test lambda sensor

Depending on how much of a service, consider:
Brake fluid change
Clutch fluid change
Inspect and change gearbox oil if required
Inspect brake disks and pads
Cambelt (and if so- water pump and idlers at the same time, inspect tensioner)
