Re: [Mk2] [NA] G-limited won't rev past 5k rpm
Right just popped the coil and igniter off they were absolutely filthy connectors and all but I've found a crack in the side casing of the coil fingers crossed this is the root of my problem!anyone know if the coils are for a specific rev or are they all interchangeable?

Re: [Mk2] [NA] G-limited won't rev past 5k rpm
Have a look on tcbparts and they will list year application.
AFAIK the rev 1 is different but the rev 2 may be different to rev 3+ as rev3+ had the power hike

Re: [Mk2] [NA] G-limited won't rev past 5k rpm
It's a rev 3 g limited mate! Update today it literally felt like it was about to die on the way to work this morning barely enough power to pull me along turned around and knocked it off! Decided to go buy a new coil and it ran fine again fitted new coil it's been fine for an hour and now it's running terribly again! It's actually doing it in neutral now too so that's a first!anyone have any idea!I'm on the verge of dumping it at a garage or off a cliff either way!
Re: [Mk2] [NA] G-limited won't rev past 5k rpm
What have you actually tried
/ checked so far?

Re: [Mk2] [NA] G-limited won't rev past 5k rpm
Plugs/leads/dizzy cap/rotor arm/ and coil only ignition related item left is an igniter if I'm right?
Re: [Mk2] [NA] G-limited won't rev past 5k rpm
So what happened with the leaky ECU mentioned on the previous page?
Re: [Mk2] [NA] G-limited won't rev past 5k rpm
I've been unable to source one which is the same so that's still on the to do list.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Re: [Mk2] [NA] G-limited won't rev past 5k rpm
If you can give me a few days to remove the engine out of the glimited I can check the igniter model number on mine and let you know but I think they are the same
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
But have you looked at your spark plugs yet?
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
From the description I would say it's the dizzy cap or rotor arm
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
I recall once long ago I put the spark plug leads on the wrong way causing my car to behave badly with it going into limp mode and misfiring, have you checked all the cables are correct and the King lead is in tight and no water or vapour is getting inside
(look for hairline cracks and make sure both bolts on dizzy are in tight)

Re: [Mk2] [NA] G-limited won't rev past 5k rpm
Yeah all new plugs dizzy dizzy cap rotor arm and coil.
Leads were from a perfectly running rev 3 so I've no reason to believe theyre at fault.
Ok mate cheers if you could give me a shout whenevers good for you that'd be great!

Re: [Mk2] [NA] G-limited won't rev past 5k rpm
Bit of an update tonight!so the cars gone pretty bad again after driving fine for the past week.
Having found another thread online with similar problems theirs was solved with a new tps.
.
.
so I unplugged mine and it runs perfectly.
So I'm crossing my fingers and hoping this is the solution.
On the hunt for a known working tps as I type this.shall report back!

You can check the operation of the TPS with a multieter.
Test procedure is in the BGB.
It might just need calibrating.
Calibration procedure is also in the BGB.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Just an update really for anyone wondering or happens to come across this post in future.
After replacing all sort from leads to the fuel pump turns out my cat had started breaking down resulting in it eventually blocking my backbox completely forcing the car to not run at all!back box and cat off and she's running a dream again!
