Rev3 into Rev1

Post by b333ry »

.......and its NA

no pennies for tubby

anywho, i have a rev3 lump which was originally in a rev1 shell which i have dropped to fit into my rev1, thought it would be nice to give it a little overhaul, paint, gaskets, belts etc..

i have the loom from the previous conversion and have searched LOADS regarding loom swap vs. repinning - for clarification (and maybe a cheeky diagram  ) could i leave my existing passenger rev1 loom in the car and repin at the boot end??

I know i wont see no power gains but its a daily and tbh im happy with the power more of a weekend project and get a nice clean maintained engine in mine.

Current car: Rev1 1991 G-Limited import
Engine: Rev3 + loom + ECU + bolted to Rev 1 box (cable driven)

any comments (i.e go V6, tubby or even why bother etc) are welcome

I did the exact same swap.

I would say just repin, you should be able to find out all the repins if you have access to the altered rev 1 passenger loom?

You do need to change the coil and ignitor though. You could just swap the speedo sender from the old box into into the new one to keep the cable drive and use the newer box.

Not sure if you'll run into any issues coz your car is an import?

As long as you have the rev 3 engine, ancillaries, loom, ecu, coil/ignitor, you'll be fine.

I loved my Rev 1 with the Rev 3 engine! You should keep the rev 1 standard cat-less exhaust too and mate it to the rev 3 downpipe, sounds awesome!

Any questions send me a pm and I'll do what I can :thumleft:

Thank you v much for reply :D

i'm now searching the forum and web for the repin/wiring diagram,

i have the previous loom but the car suffered from some strange electrical faults previously so just going to use the loom as a reference as such.

It was so long ago I can't remember where I found the diagram. I spoke to Paul Woods and he gave me a lot of help. I'll see if I can dig out any old messages or posts about it.
