I've finally got round to getting the rest of the motor stripped the last couple of nights and it turns out that the ringlands have gone on piston 1 and 2! Is it rare for them to go in 2 seperate cylinders at once? More importantly what would have made them both go?
Out of interest is there anyone around the Hereford/Worcester area that knows what they are doing when it comes to setting up the timing that would be willing to give me a hand for cash their way?

Excessive boost / heat.

I guess the question here is if you've already rebuilt it twice, what the hell is going on?

Did you skimp on forged pistons?
Are you running the right fuelling?
What boost levels are you running?

something isnt right / you need to change something for it to blow 3 times.

The car is a rev 4 UK car with a rev 3 turbo engine conversion. The engine was rebuilt when this conversion was done - new pistons, rings, bearings, water/oil pump new genuine gaskets and cosmetic head gasket. I spun the bearings around 13 months after it was rebuilt. This was due to a fault of my own. I then sent it to a company called Engine Rebuild ltd, they turned out to be a scam company that steal or hold people's cars/engines on ransom and when people eventually get it back its generally a botched up heap. Do NOT ever use them. 4 months it took me to get the engine back. I really hoped it would be ok which was probably wishful thinking on my behalf but that's the way it is.

It still has/had the standard pistons (looks like one of them has been dropped!). I can't see the fueling being wrong. I have a Walbro 55lph fuel pump. Standard rev 3 injectors and I was running between 0.9 bar on low boost and around 1.15 on high boost. So surely well between safe boost levels on a stock motor?

The head gasket that has been used seems to have a lot of the water jacket slots completely filled or just a small slot in them is this normal?
