Turbo issue? REV 1.

Post by kurkjones »

I was with my friend who owns a Subaru WRX, and as he was revving his car the boost gauge would rise alongside.

When revving my MR2 my turbo gauge didn't rise until hidding the redline, which would make it raise halfway and no more until I let off the revs.

We were both stationary,in neutral, is this normal? I've never noticed or thought about this before.

Thanks.

This has been answered many times before, but they don't make boost until load is placed on the engine. i.e 2nd gear up to 5th.

You'll notice that you won't make much boost in first either due to the gearing.

Not sure on the WRX, but I assume it's the same in this situation.

More to the point, why are you revving the car in neutral? 8-[

As above. No load means no boost. :thumleft:
