Is a Rev2 and Rev3 turbo Cat the same?

Post by Mr2Owner »

Howdy folks, looks like a good forum ye have going here. Can anyone tell me if the Cat on all Turbo Mr2's is the same?

My Mr2 is a 1994 GtS turbo model, I need a new Cat for it, which models can I get a 2nd hand Cat from that will be the same? And is a Gt4 St205 Cat the same as my Mr2?

Appreciate any info here so I can avoid buying the wrong part. :)

Hi mate. Welcome to IMOC.

The cats are different between revision 1/2 ct26 turbos and revision 3 onwards ct20b turbos.

With the exhaust section removed from the bottom of the Cat, I can see the honey comb element in the cat and it looks clean etc but I can move it around, should the honey comb piece be steadily fixed inside the cat or is it ok the fact that i can move it side to side and push it up and down.

Is my cat broken with the fact the honey comb element is "loose"?

Pretty sure you shouldn't be able to move it around. May as well gut it all out and it should be ok.

Gave my mint CAT to the scrappy on Friday, you could've had it! #-o

Just a heads up though you shouldn't need one for MOT if it's a 94, not entirely sure if that applies in Ireland though tbh
