crossing FP and B+ in the diagnostic port keeps the fuel pump running but can I drive my car with this bridged???

likely get you home ok but I don't think it's an advised modification

Looking at a diagram in the big green book you could providing you use correct size cable as that would be carrying the load for the fuel pump, by shorting out FP & B+ you are shorting out the relay contacts of the "Circuit Opening Relay" which is obviously not operating for some reason or another.
By shorting said relay you are removing the cars ability to stop the fuel pump unless the MPI relay de-energises (just what I gathered from the BGB ive not read enough to know when it operates).
Battery >> MPI Main Relay >> Circuit Opening Relay >> Fuel pump relay (which selects between fuel pump and fuel pump & resistor) >> Fuel pump
