engine code

Probably been asked a thousand times,but I've done searches and come up with nothing,
Basically thinking of buying another Mr,after been away for a while,found a few to look at,but can't remember how to tell what engine's theyre running,
Is there something I can check, ones a rev 2 but guy not sure what engine it's running,don't want a 3SFE engine.
Others a rev 3,

The engine code, 3SFE, 3SGE and 3SGTE is stated on the cam belt cover.

Failing that check the ECU, it has a label with the engine code on it (in the boot behind the carpet)

^this also. Rev 1/2 have red labels on ecu, and rev3+ have black labels. Certainly for turbos anyway, 3S-GT in red for rev 1/2 and 3S-GT in black on rev3+.

Doesnt the valve cover look completely different on the 3SFE anyway? Same for the intake mani design, the 3sge intake mani goes over the head and the fe intake doesnt.

Yeah. 3sfe looks totally different.
