Japspeed exhaust + Decat + Turbo

Post by mr299ron »

Does anyone have any vids of their cars running the Japspeed exhaust and without a cat?

Everyone is saying how loud it is going to be, but I'm wondering if they're just old.. lol.

YouTube only shows me a couple of vids, most of them being with poo phones so the sound is poor.

Right, I've had a thought.

Which would be more beneficial in terms of power, to replace the cat and not the exhaust, or the exhaust and leave the cat.

I'm aware both would be better, however I'm slowly coming to terms with how loud it may be.

Removing the CAT will always have the biggest benefit.

Even if it goes from 3" (no cat) back to 2.5" (stock exhaust)?

I guess the cat is known to restrict performance to gain emissions.

Bottom line is if you are worried about the noise it's going to be loud. Same with a Berk exhaust system or Nur Spec.

Japspeed, you will notice the exhaust when you first start car and on WOT

If you'd prefer a quiet system, get a Apexi super megaphone ( think that's the name)

Fujitsubo is a good system if you want something that looks good, sounds good but isn't actually that loud. According to the figures from Fujitsubo, the turbo exhaust isn't actually any louder than stock.

Cheers guys.

I'm worried about it being mega loud with no cat and the exhaust. Removing the cat has always made any car I've had ridiculously loud and so coupled with the Japspeed I'm just a little worried it's going to be insane.

I love loud exhausts (as long as it's not a civic), but sometimes I'm coming in from work at 7am, and other times it's the normal 5:30pm.

We'll have to wait and see :D

The nur spec is jasma stamped and it's still loud.

HKS Hi power will be my next exhaust (currently own a decatted Nur spec)

IIRC, the Nur Spec got JASMA approval with the bung.

Wow, never realised the Nur Spec got JASMA approved. It's mega loud, even with the bung!

Actually, just doing a quick search:

http://www.blitz-uk.co.uk/Product-9.aspx

http://www.blitz-uk.co.uk/Product-10.aspx

The Nur Spec R doesn't mention JASMA, the Nur Spec S does. Maybe it's not JASMA approved?

To be honest mine is pretty quiet with the bung.. I didn't think it was loud at all, cuts down motorway drone and you can have a relatively quiet conversation with it in.. almost silent when cruising along at 30mph say.

Yeah I reckon full exhaust and no cat with bungs might quieten it down as I come into where I live.

A 2.5" exhaust is still less of a restriction than a CAT

I have a decat with stock exhaust and Imo apart from more burble and sounding throaty it's only marginally 'louder'.

Do you feel any extra bhp from removing the cat? Does it sound nice with the stock exhaust and cat setup?
