Never had this issue with Carbotechs myself, it does sound like you might have ordered/ been sent the wrong ones :-k

Found the cause - it seems it's possible to fit the alignment/fitting springs upside down. That is to say - the one that should be at the bottom will fit on the top (of each pad) (doh)

You want the ones with the springing in 2 axes at the bottom, to essentially always have them lifted up by the spring.

This is what i mean by sprung in 2 axes:

When under engagement pressure, the pad lifts towards to top (the disc rotates forward, the caliper is at the back of the wheel, effect is to lift the pad to the topmost position within the caliper.

With the clips with the springs in 2 axes at the bottom, the pads are always being lifted to the highest position - so don't fall to the bottom, so don't clunk on engagement.
