Cruise Control
Hi guys I have a 1991 Rev 2 turbo and it doesn't have cruise control, how easy is it to fit this to my car? Will I have it all set up and just need to plug it in or does it need to be wired in and I shouldn't bother?

There was a factory cruise control but it's very rare.

Re: Cruise Control
Yeahhh if I can buy the factory one, is there a specific plug already there that I can plug it into and it'll work?
Re: Cruise Control
I'm not sure you've thought about what's involved, as it's more than just a plug.
.
.
you will need:
The cruise control computer
The control stalk
The actuator
The throttle cable linkage
The clutch switch
A hell of a lot of wiring if it's not already in your car's loom

Re: Cruise Control
What's the easiest way to check?
Re: Cruise Control
I'm 90% of your car had it to begin with,
it would have it now.
The work involved is almost as involving as changing transmission from automatic to manual if not harder.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Unless there is a trick you can do with an aftermarket ECU

Re: Cruise Control
it'd be far easier getting a universal kit like this

![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
then get a camry control stalk which will fit the mr2 steering cowl and wire it to that

Re: Cruise Control
I was going to fit factory fit cruise to my old Turbo, but it's just a ballache if it never came fitted with it.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

The suggestion above is what I planned to do with a WAECO unit.
Problem was they use vacuum to power the actuator.
No good with a turbo as you get positive pressure on the intake manifold.

Easiest solution was to fit a Range Rover vacuum pump that are pennies on ebay.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Re: Cruise Control
Trev did a factory cruise control write up on here somewhere, let me see if i can find it.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Edit: Wasn't Trev, and it wasn't a writeup! But it's been done.

Re: Cruise Control
I am currently looking to add it to my 97 japan import that didn't have it stock.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

I got all the required pieces from a USDM mr2 and I am in the process of researching how to route all the wiring and what extra wiring I might need.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
