Best way to fit bucket seats?

Post by IMR2T »

Got myself some universal bucket seats.

What's the best way to get a subframe that fits?

Buy some old mr2 wrecked seats and take off the rails and mount to the new buckets.

Once I figured it out only took a few hours to mount my evo recaros.

Cool, so I'm assuming I could use the rails on my current seats, wasn't sure.

Do the bolt onto my current seats or are they welded mate?

Bit of both on my evo ones.

As the mr2 standard rails are single items I welded a bar across each one to keep them at the same level when removing. Then drilled holes into the rails to bolt to my seats. There was a few other minor things I did that I can't remember including cutting off the seat rail adjusters and rewelding the adjuster on a a different angle as the new seats fouled the bar.
I also trimmed off any excess metal with my grinder. I suppose it depends what your seats are like.
I then removed the welded bars as everything was mounted.

Didnt take any pics I'm afraid.

That is the way I first did my seats but found they were too high. I suppose it depends on what seats you are trying to fit.

Your right about it being seat dependant i measured mime up and the base is virtually the same as the stock leathers
