crx chargecoolers

Post by Poker Face »

Anyone got one? Are they any good? It seems as though someone is selling them on ebay as crx eu.

I am really tempted to get a charge cooler fitted as I get my forged rebuild. I have a spearco that I bought off Martin waiting to be fitted. I'm hoping for around 400 bhp with 800 cc injectors and gt3076r turbo with an aem ems 4.

My original plan was to fit the spearco and monitor the inlet temps with a thermocouple on the hot side of the turbo.

Chinese prices, so don't expect anything more than Chinese quality and performance.

Thanks Peter,
That was my hunch but somewhere down the line I thought they might have a decent rep,sponsorship/marketing works I saw a pic of a race car with their logo and thought maybe they'll be okay.

I'm never going to build a super car over night so I'll just keep to the plan and try not to get carried away.😆

IMHO, there are 3 proven cc solutions, one of which will suit everyone's needs:

1) ST185/205
2) RadTec
3) Precision

There are bound to be others out there, but the above are well reputed. Pick the one that suits your build.

Cheers Peter ,
I'm back to where I started on a decision but that's not a bad thing. I'll stick with the original plan and take it from there.
Once again thanks, I needed a sanity check.

Yeah, they're chinese, doesn't automatically mean they're junk though.

These chargecoolers really are top notch. Have mapped 4 cars on these now on mr2's and the cooling is just brilliant. No flow issues either and could not see any pressure drop in the logs either.

Gee mans car is a true testement to this setup as his stock engine with 350bhp has handled lots of hardcore track days this year and his core is always cool to touch.

Ryan"

So it would seem some respected people think/know that the Chinese chargecoolers are up to the job.

I just bought one, cheap but once i have bought the pipes and silicone hoses needed the cost has come to a tad over £400. I will be using the radtec rad, pipes, pump and swirl pot already in the car.

I am hoping to get a new IAT sensor to get accurate, up to date temps on the radtec at 1.6 bar which sees 406 bhp.
I will then get the car put on the dyno at 1.6 bar with the crx chargecooler set up and if temps are sufficiently lower i will be putting the boost up to around 1.8 bar (on the dyno of course).

I went for the biggest core,

No plans to do the actual swap until october though but if it all goes P-Tong i will cut my losses and buy a branded chargecooler....

P.S. I am quite aware of "buy cheap, buy twice" but sometimes i struggle to learn from past mistakes :-$

Thanks for the input guys I think I'll talk to the guy building my engine and see what it will cost to get it done at the same time. I can always sell the Spearco if I decide to go ahead with it that will offset it a little bit.

http://cxracing.eu/ .For anyone considering one they also trade on ebay with the same name.
