[Mk2] [Turbo] Narrow band gauge install

Post by Matt49a »

I have been trying to install a narrow band gauge in my rev3 turbo,

it has 3 wires two for power {no probs} and 1 for the signal

I have tried to connect it and had no joy

Can anyone please tell me where exactly to connect it

Thanks

I may be able to help as I used to have one on my rev2 turbo.

What brand and model is the gauge ?

What colour are the three wires ?

Narrow band gauges are not a huge amount of use. Especially if the gauge is not marked with a scale 20-10. A lambda gauge (with only lean/optimal/rich on it) will throw the needle around manically when on cruise / idle and then show you nothing of use when you actually get on the gas and want to see if you're runnings 12s, 11 or 10s. If there's a scale or a digital readout then it will tell you a rough estimate (from my experience it was about 0.5 out compared to wideband, but could easily be worse that that).

That said, I have connected one of these before, on my rev3 turbo. It was built into my old A'PEXi turbo timer and it did prove useful in showing me that my wideband sensor was dead rather than having a fuelling problem, so I'm not going to knock a decent narrowband gauge too much.

The signal wire needs to be run to the boot and spliced onto the ECU's OX wire:
