Boost gauge

I have a prosport boostgauge fitted to my rev 3, can anyone tell me why its reading nearly 5psi on idle? And how do i fix it? Gauge was fitted when i bought the car its always been at atleast 0 and never goes below

Sounds like the boost sensor (map sensor) is goosed ... sorry .


Were is it hooked up to just out of curiosity

Check wiring. If OK, test sensor. If OK, blame gauge.

is it calibrating on startup? It should do a sweep then sit at zero, try letting it settle before you actually start the car, I had the same problem with a prosport, if you didn't let the gauge go to zero (if you started it during it's calibration sweep) then it'd be out, it would think it was at zero from the point your turned the starter over

Yer it sweeps up and down and used to settle at 0 but its only started playing up yesterday, even with the engine off and the ignition on its currently settled nicely at 6psi... Not sure how its connected up it was already on when i bought it... Gunna have a look now but to be honest im not even sure what id be looking for

I had a electronic gauge years ago , water got into the sensor .. no fixing that

If it was the map sensor would you notice a difference in the driving though? As its still driving perfect...the boost gauge isnt that old i remember seeing a receipt for a boost gauge plus fitting in the paperwork for about a year ago. I suppose it could be connected wrong... But that wouldnt explain why its only just started giving dodgy readings...

Not totally sure what you mean , the gauge has its own sensor being as its electronic , makes no difference to how the car drives
