Geomotry setup

Post by bolton »

Where do you guys recommend i get this done?
Also would it be worth buying camber bolts to take with me?
My cars fully poly bushed, tein super streets, cusco tension rods, roll center adaptors and whiteline arb.
Cheers

Any competent performance focussed alignment centre should be able to do the job for you.

Whether you need camber bolts depends on what settings you intend having done. If you have Tein adjustable top mounts you shouldn't need them.

No i went for the standard top mounts.
So i might buy some camber bolts just in case.
How many do i need 4?
Do i need to get any for the rear?

Just had my 4 wheel alignment done on the weekend. I went to DC Autos in Frogmore in St Albans and asked them to setup the tubby using Dino's settings (http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0).
The owner Danny was really meticulous in getting every setting as well balanced using the provided settings as a baseline and it drives so much nicer now. I've had a number of alignments elsewhere before (including WIM) and this is my favourite geometry so far. Feels so much more grounded on the road and stable. Booted it a bit in the wet and there wasn't even a hint of sideways movement when the rears spun up. The full geometry (including having to take the rear wheels off to refit the camber bolts) came to £120 in the end. They also do pretty much all mechanical work including fabrication, etc.

I'm not in any way affiliated with the garage but was very happy with my experience so wanted to share.

Which bolt do people generally swap out? The top or the bottom?

Camber bolts are designed for the top one.

You can fit them to both if you want to squeeze a bit more camber out though...

Apparently when u fit them theres a right angle for the tab to go. Think its with the tab facing up but not sure. The wrong way ends up giving a min of 3 deg camber or something.

Which I thought was the case but I've seen people fit them in both which I thought was a tad excessive.

Anyone have the toyota part numbers for the 3 different sizes?

3 different sizes of what? :-k

If you're after camber bolts then you can buy Powerflex or Eibach bolts on Ebay, they're both ok. Obviously make sure you buy MR2 specific bolts!

Those 3 sizes.

I would buy from them but the postage is extortionate for some bolts.

Buy the Eibach or similar bolts, remove the top bolt from your strut and insert the new bolt so it is not straining against the strut or hub carrier, tighten to recommended spec.

Then when you go to your chosen alignment place they will adjust this bolt as required.
