Changing A Timing Belt - Can I call you for advice asap please

Post by IMR2T »

Hi guys, my timing belt snapped on the way to my mot on a project MR2 Turbo I'm restoring. Gutted.

Doing the job on my drive.

Would really appreciate being able to chat to someone on the phone to see the easiest way to do this on a Rev 1.

Cheers

Good news is it's a non interference engine so it shouldn't have done any damage, it's not the worst belt change in the world to do, make sure you do the tensioner, pulleys and water pump as it's likely one of those seizing that's snapped the belt not just the belt itself expiring

Are you sure? I've read otherwise on autodata

the 3SGTE is a no-interference engine..

the 3SGE is also a non-interfernce engine.

Gutted, checked coolant level and it's very low.

Took off cap and coolant started leaking from behind the cam cover...I only ordered a belt and tensioner...looks like I'll nd a pump as well...can cancel Monday's MOT as I doubt anyone will have one on a Sat.
