Space framed rear subframe?

Post by ashley »

All this talk of the SARD MC8 Race cars has got my creative juices flowing...I remembering seeing pictures of at least one mkii MR2 with the stock rear subframe replaced with a space frame assembly, and a double wishbone set up.

Damned if I can find the pictures though...anyone know what I'm talking about, and happen to know where I can find the pics?

That looks cool as hell, but it looks like there havent been any updates recently. Although this isnt something you can just bolt on a bunch of stuff and expect to work :-k

I was contemplating self fabrication, but not interested in cutting up my chassis rails! I'm sure I've seen another one, completed, that didn't involve chopping the chassis...will keep on looking...

Its a neat idea and all but tbh for the amount of work it seems easier to possibly start with a platform that is already double wishbone all round than trying to re-engineer the entire suspension.

You're probably correct, but that SARD just got me thinking "what if?"

I'll get back to building my engine loom instead...
