I would happily take an MR2 turbo to over 200,000 miles.

Sure things will wear out but they can be replaced.

If it is very high mileage I would prefer a pile of service history for things like cam belt, shocks, brakes, turbo, clutch, alternator, radiator, sill repairs, resprays,.

These cars are pretty reliable if they are warmed up properly before being driven enthusiastically, and allowed to cool gradually before turning off the engine after being driven enthusiastically.

I think cars that do mostly short distances in stop start traffic have a harder life than cars that do lots of miles in flowing traffic.

Cars that are sat around doing nothing have different problems with things corroding and seizing up or bits just not working cos they haven't been used for ages.

As others have said, its overall condition that matters rather than mileage on cars this age.
