Does anyone know if they are flat response or resonant?

Do you want to rephrase?

Resonant.

I'm confused because that link I posted would suggest that you can have 2 types of knock sensor?

Flat response requiring an amplifier within the ecu
(not correct for the standalone Aem)

Resonant which does not and would work correctly with the standalone.

So what does it actually mean?

One has a very low output across the spectrum, and the output needs amplifying within the ECU before the signal can be processed.

The other type has an

Ok thanks

Which one of those two does a 3SGTE use?

See jon's post.

Re: 3sgte knock sensor
So the Bosch sensors are
(although not quite) the
"flat" response type, and would require some form of frequency filter
(to isolate frequencies associated with knock) and amplifier to be used with a stand alone ECU?

Correct.

Re: 3sgte knock sensor
Yeah- which means that I would need some form of frequency filter to get it working direct with the MoTeC.
.
.sounds like a pain in the ass, so will just stick with the stock denso sensor I reckon.

Another advantage of the Syvecs ECU discovered
(which I'm assuming has a knock frequency filter built in).
