New aerial mast fitted, motor runs for 10 seconds at top, nothing broken inside

Fitted a new mast to my aerial as it was snapped inside.

It went up and down a couple of times fine, but now at the top the motor keeps going for about 10 seconds, making a grinding noise. The mast can't be pulled any further manually. I cleaned all the parts and used fresh grease.

I stripped the aerial again and there was no damage.

I don't know if it did this with the old mast as it was broken when I got the car.

What could cause this?

Hi there, did you just strip out the mast or strip the motor casing off it to inspect inside? sounds like the teeth on the gear have worn or broken.

Hi, I stripped the whole thing and cleaned everything, put back together with fresh grease.

Took it to bits again and there is no damage inside.
