Hi people,
car has today developed a loud squeak as the clutch pedal is pressed or let back up, definitely coming from the back of the car not the pedal assembly, any ideas what it could be, hopefully a simple fix??

Re: clutch noise
Could be something as simple as the slave cylinder on the release fork needing a bit of grease.
Get a second person at the box end whilst pressing the pedal

Re: clutch noise
The description is classic symptoms of the throw out bearing on its way out.

Re: clutch noise
hoping its the first solution, it does sound exactly like a hinge that needs greasing as the pedal moves, and does it without engine running as well, I don't mean the classic rattle that disappears once the pedal is fully pressed down.
