Right - I put the oil on yesterday, just one coat brushed on then rubbed in. Today, the seals feel nice and plump so will probably do another coat just for good measure when I get a nice sunny day again. I'd recommend to anyone who's seals are a bit tired but not completely perished :thumleft:

Tesco groundnut oil... someone linked it earlier.
Any nut oil should do though.

Indeed, groundnut oil is just peanut oil.

Top tip - read the bottle carefully if you're getting it from a supermarket. I bought some, turns out it was roasted. It smelled like peanut butter, and I hate the stuff. Cold pressed is the one you want.

I've just joined. Heavy dew on the outside of the windscreen this morning - bone dry on the inside for the first time ever, courtesy two 250g bags. Brilliant. Should have tried this years ago.

All I need now is to pickup some ground nut oil while the weather's dry and give the t-bar seals a good soaking. Be interesting to see if this works better than the silicone lube I've used in the past. Must remember to get the pressed variety as the thought of the inside of the car smelling like a peanut butter sarnie sends a shiver down my spine - I hate the stuff.

That silicone stuff is really messy... try strips of Butyl Tape Roll to seal the gap its reuseable and stays sticky for ever so the seal is 100% all the time. Even when u remove it you can remole it back into shape and use it again. Rice in a bag works for the moist but air con unit clears the condesation too.

Just ordered myself 2 of the halfords ones as easy to pick up tonight.

The last straw was wiping the tbar glass and it all falling in my eye - smelly pond water     so going to keep it dry as a bone in there.

Step 1: replace t-Bar guides (got!)
Step 2: groundnut oil on all seals to soften
Step 3: deploy non camp dehunidifier bags

Since putting this thing in the car http://www.halfords.com/car-seats-trave ... humidifier a couple weeks ago, I've not even had a fogged windscreen in the morning. Well worth a tenner!
