Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
hi all I replaced my abs ring on the my rear passenger side drive shaft it's all lined up as it should be but let's say on a 5 mile journey I get approx. 3 single clicks on the brake pedal not 3 together though 1 click on 3 single times when coming to a halt could I have the abs pump wired up wrong as I can hear the abs pump engaging when it does this it's minimal now though
any advice would be gratefully appreciated
thanks in advance
Before I replaced the abs ring it the same problem happened a lot more but still no light on the dash and no codes I've replaces the hub speed sensor and abs ring

ok sorry my mistake
I do have abs error codes 11, 34, 36
I think it means the left rear speed sensor is faulty but I replaced it
can someone please confirm is left rear driver or passenger side?
11 open circuit in solenoid relay circuit
34 rear left wheel speed sensor signal malfunction
36 open circuit in front right or rear left wheel speed sensor
If you've replaced it and still getting fault codes, then you still have a problem.
I thought you had a problem with the sensor ring? But you say you replaced a sensor too?
You can check for open circuit in sensor using instructions in BGB and an ohm meter.
We check waveform using a 'scope.

is rear left passenger side??
Rear left is passenger side.
So you didn't mess with the ABS ring on the driveshaft?
Have ytou cleared the fault codes from the ECU and confirmed they have cleared?
I replaced the hub and sensor a while back didn't know about the error codes for the abs system back then so believed I still had the fault so yesterday went to my friends garage and replaced the abs ring on the end of the drive shaft passenger rear
I cleared the codes this evening took it for a short test drive still abs engaging when driving slow or coming to an halt
sometimes the pedal dosent click but I can here it engaging from under the frunk
since I replaced the abs ring its happening a lot less
the old abs ring was slightly damaged and worn down on the one side
this is why I replaced it believed this to be the problem
Well if those codes are there now, you have two faults to sort out.
Suggest you get a 'scope on the sensor wire plug and check you have a good waveform.
Then you need to look into the solenoid fault.
the codes are not present at the mo but only drove up and back down my street
11 is still present though
going to to take another look tomorrow as I think the tip of the sensor is dirty
just replaced the speed sensor for another one
there's an improvement but still present
error code 11 is still present no code 34 or 36
11 open circuit in solenoid relay circuit doe's this mean there's a break in the wires somewhere??
can someone please tell me where the abs solenoid relay is located?
thanks for all your help
