You could start a new thead on "hks ssqv, original or fake" mines a version one with the rear screw (they never got faked) the rest is a total mine field.. If its to cheap to be true it probably is.
Check to forum for sales (people on the forum spot fakes if there trying to be sold).. and check goggle on how to spot a fake .. the black c clips are a dead give away for fakes.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] low power/ low torque
the OEM bov if working correctly doesn't leak either and it's design means it holds better as the boost goes up. Sure if it's broken then it's crap, as are most broken parts .
If you're not getting fuel cut while driving then clear the ECU codes, there's a guide here somewhere for that or search google but basically with the ignition off, remove ECU a and ECU B fuses, also the EFI fuse. Two of those fuses are in the engine bay box and the third one is in the front fuse box near the suspension turrent. Keep the fuses out for a minute of so, put them back in and go for a drive. If you then get any error codes back, you know the car has an ongoing fault. Good work finding the leaks so far, that helps greatly

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] low power/ low torque
I youtube'd the real and fake hks ssqv
I did reset the ecu and the codes haven't come back and I've been booting it tried my best to see if I could get fuel cut but nothing
I completely removed the mbc
im gonna check the stock bov in the morning fingers crossed
think its something I'd like to replace though tbh

When you think how many miles/km its done since new personally I think its well worth it.
Hope you find your fault and its a cheap fix
Ps. To ecu reset, just pull the earth strap off the battery , wait 1min and reattach, thats what I used to do..

no point in replacing parts that are working fine, spent the money on the EBC instead. Removing the battery strap works fine, also wipes the radio info and sets off the car alarm on reconnection too. Removing the fuses and then checking oil and coolant levels before putting fuses back in, simple quiet and useful time spent

afternoon to all
checked my stock bov this morning and its fine
no leaking when I blow into the hole which was attached to the hot pipe

managed to get me a Greddy Profec B Spec II Boost Controller
