Get a bigger Ic.. Then injectors and different.plugs map to suit .. 240hp
But the pulley and a map to suit is epic. Such a massive difference and just a out right amount of power if I'm honest

Already got colder plugs to go in when the pulley/supercharger goes on.
Bigger intercooler is planned.
Not sure if I want to go as far as bigger injectors though, maybe if I get bored after a year
Re: Mini Cooper S, life after the MR2
More progress...
No turning back now!
Supercharger removed
Old vs new
New supercharger installed
Shorter belt
I've been out with the 15% pulley, and whilst it's definitely faster, it's not as fast as I was expecting, as people have said it 'transforms' the car.
And it is boosting fine, I can get the traction control light to stay on permanently which occurs if you hit 18psi (goes back off when you start the car next time).

Remap.... To get most out of it....
Ours was majored to only run on super
You will never get a shove feel in it as it's supercharger
My 260hp charged.mk1 never felt as fast as it was..

Re: Mini Cooper S, life after the MR2
Had the car dyno'd recently.
Apart from showing a fueling problem (hopefully now fixed), it put out 175hp at the wheels, which is approx 200bhp

Nice result.
Not tempted with another MR2, or is that you done now?

John Cooper Works edition had 200-210bhp from only a 11% supercharger pulley, although that had a different ecu map. So I suppose 200 from a 15% is okay.
I'd love another MR2, but I've got used to the Minis superb handling I'm not sure I could go back to suspension that was designed in the 80s
I'll never say never, but it'd have to be a black MR2 if I was to return
Re: Mini Cooper S, life after the MR2
Did some quarter mile runs in the Mini at the weekend, first time in a FWD car, and it showed
After some appalling starts, I managed a 15.46...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56YgJXBbVb8
Most surprisingly, the Mini didn't fall to pieces
I'm sure the car is capable of better, just need more practice.
I used to get similar times in the MR2 which weighed a lot more, had 30bhp less and less torque.
A few times I was up against another supercharged Mini, but a JCW, so it had 210bhp. So larger injectors and a remap (like what the JCW has) might be on the cards

One month ago, left stranded in the cinema carpark at 10pm, car just wouldn't even attempt to start
Thank you BMW accountants for buying the cheapest and lowest quality components to build your cars from.
After some Googling, I took a guess at a faulty ignition switch, the forums were full of these failing
Once fitted, car started fine.
Just wondering what next will fail
I asked the recovery guy what cars he picks up the most, he said it's almost all VWs, Audis and BMWs

Then again almost every car on the road is VW, Audi, BMW or Mini now right? Chin up fella!

LOL, true.
I told him I should've stuck with my Toyota, and he couldn't remember the last time I was called out to a Toyota
Re: Mini Cooper S, life after the MR2
Still enjoying the Mini?

I am
It's faster than my rev5 NA, and handles much better than a mk2 MR2
Although, I'm still keeping my eyes on autotrader for a black rev5 turbo
*edit, and just got my insurance renewal through, around £200 cheaper than the MR2
Re: Mini Cooper S, life after the MR2
Just came back from a test drive in one. Was a bit disappointed, really did expect a good shove and a big s/c whine, didn't happen. Not bad, but not for me. (yes, it was a supercharged model, would feel very dumb if that was the reason the things I was after weren't there)

As Pete says:

My 260hp charged.mk1 never felt as fast as it was..
As for the whine, as standard the whine is only really noticable when the car is under load with a few passengers. I put a cone filter in and made a hole in the plastic panel behind it...
Excellent increase in whine
Of course I've since fitted a stainless exhaust which drowns it out
Similar story to my MR2, Apexi filter gave a fantastic roar with standard exhaust, couldn't hear it once the Mongoose exhaust was fitted

I did get a ride in a work car that was a s/c v8 Ford. Boss something or other. That had ridiculous poke, guess the v8 had something to do with that as well.
The Mini did have fairly good pickup, guess I want more drama and G force
