[Mk2] [NA] intermittent pas problem, light comes on and off? loss of power steering

My pas light comes on intermittently and I loose power steering then after an hour with the car switched off I turn the car on and I have poower steering again..?

Mine used to do this, last time it did I gave the relay a fairly hard tap and had no problems since

This has happened to me also a couple of times when startuing up.

Solution was to flick ignition on and off about 20 times and then problem goes. If you search through google or imoc you will probably find similar responses.
