Turbo conversion wiring help/advice - SORTED

Post by Krish »

Hey guys,

I'm in the middle of a turbo conversion Link to profile

I have a JDM Rev 4 NA and trying to put a rev 3 turbo lump in.

So far I know I don't need to touch the body loom and that a few wires need to be spliced to make things work.

I've found the ECU pinout for the 3SGTE but nothing for the NA to compare to.

There are guides for rev1/2 conversions but I've not found anything dealing with a JDM rev4 NA to a rev3 turbo .

If anyone has any info or links that would be great.

Also if there is a dummies guide (read as cut this coloured wire and join to this coloured wire) then that would be amazing :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

Thanks everyone

Update on this. I’ve been doing some research and this is what I’ve found so far.
  • I’ve read the igniter wiring needs to be modified.

I’ve read the rear brake lights need to be modified because the UK models have fog lights but I have a JDM version. I have a fog light but I’m guessing that’s been wired separately so not sure if I need to touch this.

Finally I’ve also reads that the fuel pump needs to be re-wired. Now I think this was for earlier rev1/2 models so again not sure if I need to touch this.

So far this is all I’ve found.
If anyone can advise me on what wires need to be modified then I can look up that in more detail.
Here are some diagrams I’ve got:

Fusebox:

Rev3 ECU pinout from 2bartuning resources:

5SFE engine wiring diagram:

5SFE wiring harness – Part 2:

3SGTE engine wiring:

If anyone could advise then this really would be much appreciated. I’m happy to bribe members with beer fund :D

So I've found more info on an American website: Click

This page links to many diagrams, excel sheets and word documents detailing wiring info for a rev3 conversion. The big question is, can I use the info considering it's for a USDM loom???

Also found this thread on MR2OC: Click

This link details helps solve problems with a rev 2 tubby into a rev 4 NA. Is this guide relevant?

If anyone can point me in the direction of a similar thread relevant to my needs that would be great.

Thanks again

When I did my conversion rev 2 NA to rev 3 turbo both JDM models, I was told to do the whole splicing thing, but I'm not too good with all the wiring and took forever trying to find diagrams etc.

With my engine package I bought, I had also purchased the passenger side loom, it plugged straight in and was fine. I never bothered with the cutting and shutting of wires.

This is the lazy and probably dumb way, but now I'm enjoying my tubby haha!

so maybe an idea for u if you struggle??
