T-bar Goodwood Green UK Rev4 N/A black leather *** price drop ****

Post by edt »

This is the 3rd MR2 I've owned. Garaged & not taken out in poor weather (I use my VW).

Asking £850. Car is near Reading, Berks.

The previous owner kept it garaged for years. She spent £770 on it in 2012 and £750 in May last year to get it ready to sell. After buying I had a new clutch fitted by Luke at Pacific Works (MR2 specialist) who also gave the car a look over with me up on his lift & said it was a good NA example. Apexi filter fitted which adds some great noise over the exhaust note. OEM wheels professionally refurbished & re-coloured 3 years ago. Bags & sun shields for targa panels. Carpets & leather good condition. I had a protective layer fitted on the headlight & fog lamps to avoid any glass bills. Regularly washed & waxed.

It's a fast car and handles well. It kept my pal in his V8 TVR honest on a recent drive together.

The belt will need refreshing in the future, there's 9K left & getting on a bit now. Was serviced 7K miles ago. No signs of rust around targa seals, front of rear of car. 122k miles. MOT end of May.

Cd player faulty. Driver's seat not perfect - has had a repair at some point. Boot panel gap not perfect. One wheel arch shows slight bubbling on the corner. Few marks as to be expected on body.

Will include standard air box and filter, plus the 4 x original wheels with tyres if wanted (alloys need refurb, tyres are good) which could be used as winter wheels.

I know the weather's shocking for a T-bar, but nobody likes the look of it? If there's anything I've not included in the text or have get something wrong, please do say. Thanks !

I think that the fact that the belts and service are gonna be due soon (which is big bills if you need a garage to do it) and the weather is crap is not going to help you.
It looks a good cheap car though and good luck with the sale but the above points would put me off.
If your capable of doing the above before it sells I'm sure you could nearly double the asking price.

Why you selling pal?

Also what repairs did she have done, is there no other rust apart from the arch, can you take a photo of the boot gap, what are the tyres like and does the roof leak?

Also Would it pass the mot?

Fair points and makes total sense. My thinking was that i could price it with that in mind. Someone could buy it, run it as is and get to know the car, as it doesn't need these things right now.. Is good to drive.. But yes will need doing at some point.
Other option is get it over to Luke again for the day but the price would go up a bit.

Baby due in 7 weeks! Can't see much chance of using the car enough to keep it and need the garage space back for kiddy clobber. Bikes... Scooters... Buggies etc (got 2 kids already)
Looks good re the rust but if you want to come look under the car as well you're now then welcome..

Will get the history out asap and post on here what works were done.

Boot gap i think is due to an aging boot strut. Will take pic can you pm me your email address?

Rear tyres are getting low (Kumho) the rears on the spare rears are good... Might swap them over at some point. Front good in both sets of alloys.

Re roof I've been in the rain just a few times and was fine. I use my vw for bad weather drives. MR2 not been out of the garage for near 2 months now!

In May 2013:

MAy 2012:
Long list of stuff - looks like a major service so filters etc. Plus new brake discs, calipers, brake cable.
