[Mk2] [Turbo] Engine not running when hot

Post by trd2000 »

Here is one for the electrical guru´s (hopefully  )

My car is a rev 1 us turbo.

When driving it initially runs fine, after approx. 50 miles the car start to stutter, and if I keep driving it comes to a point where the engine wont run at all.

when its left to cool of for some time the engine runs fine again :?:

I have replaced the :
sparkplugs, rotor + cap , ignition leads , coil and now also the fuel pump.

Does anyone have a good suggestion to what's wrong here ??

Regards
Brian

Probably not related but I had the same problem with an xr2.

Turns out there was a blockage in the vent to fuel tank due to a different fuel cap I used.

I found it used to do the same, but when it done it I unscrewed the fuel cap and loads of air came out and then it ran ok. I ended up using a plastic fuel cap thing (not mot friendly).

Probably something completely different but maybe sort of related.
