Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
Just a quick one, recently we've seen a huge rise in the number of failing 'pipes from hell'.
They are the pipe above the fuel tank, that weep on the bracket.
Every single mk2 WILL have this problem. Even the rev5's, where Toyota only fixed on side. If yours have not been done please have them checked.
It's relatively simple to check. You could pull the top heatshield and have a look, or remove some undertrays. Look up the rear of the fuel tank.
Here's some pics.
Excuse me for being a noob but what is it that happens is it the fuel lines leak or drop onto something ot / explode or something?
I'm a noob forgive me lol
Im getting the tank dropped out of mine for the walbro pump upgrade.
Would it be work removing these and replacing with rubber hose while the tank is out?
Hi another heartbroken mr2 owner, owned a mrk 1 years ago b reg and then 21 yr old lol, but loved every minute of it, so this time wanted a mrk2 the 1 i bought just needing a new clutch and mot advisory coolant leak? my mot guy even said water leak dosn't fail mot, my Q is if those pipes we're left how far could the damage go? Ive been trying to find the leak but no ovious signs on any around the engine or around the radiator, the long pipes under car seem ok too but then this leak seems to have a mind of its own, mainly goes on very long routes but have seen coolant drop in 2 days town runs, not had a prob for few weeks now though? I think this might be something i missed as so far with the help of this site i can honestly say this car might be a little too far gone to save, as far as i can see this site is my best chance of seeing if this car can be saved or if i should just sell it on with a true desription as it is, have a lot to post and new to the site just hope someone can help lol

Sorry was more meaning in terms of rust rotting the underbody, which is the more imiediate issue the car has, its really not good if im right i think the rear of the chassis rail is rotted on the inside along with the box secion on the outside lol, only because this site i found it, also how do i post a pic?
Good to hear at least, and think it could be the leak so will take a look, i really do have some shocking pics to put up mind you, and dont want to do any more work till i have a better idea of what im up against, but to give you an idea the inner sill panel on the outward side of the plastic box behind both seats are rotted right though, took a grinder to the drivers side see how far it went and lol, put my head through it, fabricated some .9 and welded in there nicely but i cant see any posts covering this part of the sill, mind you have gota do outside box section both sides too

others will have differing opinions but i cant see the point in wasting time and money on a car like that (thats not exactly a rare car) when you can buy a decent one, if there are any decent aftermarket parts swap them over.
