Hi all, been MR2-less for around 16months, but always been hovering on the forums. Couldn't let go
Having recently sold my R32 GTR I was on the look out for a nice MR2 again, I looked high and low for a number of months and eventually stumbled across Leons Rev4 tbar tubby converted car. A viewing later and it was mine, thanks to fellow member mr2turbotom who came to view it with me, and of course thanks to Leon for keeping it in such great condition and thanks to Ollie and Luke at Sky insurance for sorting me out.
5days in, and having had 250+ miles of fun already, thought id start a project thread.
Now some may or may not know my previous cars which included a 301hp rev2 turbo and 403hp genuine rev5 turbo both of which were featured in mr2only magazine!
ive been a member of the mr2 forums for a good 8-9years and don't plan on leaving for a while yet!
The plan is to land this car in the middle of my old ones to keep reliability but clean fast fun in mind.
The car came with a blitz ebc, but I prefer my the profec B 2 so swapped this in today along with my AEM wideband to checking fueling (which appears to be all good).
Ive also removed the insert on the HKS bov, much better sound IMO, also replaced the adjustable bolt to tighten up the spring a little more.

Re: Rev4 Turbo *mini photoshoot*
A wise choice Jim, it's a stunning car
Re: Rev4 Turbo *mini photoshoot*
Nice car Jim, what made you leave behind Skybus ownership?
Re: Rev4 Turbo *mini photoshoot*
beautiful car, but couldnt trust it mechanically.
plus i realised i missed the size and nimbleness of the mr2, the gtr was only ever a weekend car and on the b roads it was a struggle.
i did look into a vx220 and rx7, even the elise s1, but with a wedding coming up next year, i had to be sensible, so funds were limited and bang for buck, you cant go too wrong with the mr2 turbo, and handling wise, leons setup a great little car

Re: Rev4 Turbo *mini photoshoot*
Fair enough, I can understand the b-road thing for sure, the RX7 is just small enough to still enjoy on a b-road, any larger and it'd be a different story!
Re: Rev4 Turbo *mini photoshoot*
I'm really interested in your R32 story, what did you think would break? or was it just the age of the car.
Seems like i'm stalking, but i remember your well sorted R32 and just wondering apart from you releasing funds for your upcoming wedding (congraz) why you would let it go

Welcome back!
This car looks fantastic, congrats on the purchase. Loved your last 2 as well. Good luck with the power gains.

Got a few bits done saturday, weather wasn't looking ideal so a good time to start to change things up a bit
** Gear linkage bushes and rotating the linkage cube.
** Fit my recaros!
For the bushes, dam the starter was a bu88er to remove!
Idea being a bearing/solid type for the top selector as this only needs to rotate, and a jap spec poly bush one for the lower as this needs some give.
And the cube rotated 90degrees as that had worn quite a bit
The left over poly bush and one of my Phoenix power solid bushes, along with the cleaned up rotated cube
Wear on the cube!
Top oem bush wouldn't budge! Can't have been helping
Other Oem bush, warped!
Just needed to pop the rails on I got from some old factory recaros I picked up the other month. Total oem fitment.
Feel great!

Re: Rev4 Turbo *mini photoshoot*
Welcome back,
I can fully understand, i have been in the same position with a Supra and Tvr in the past.
Supra was a better car but did not deliver the same smiles. The size and capability of going fast with no real sensation.

Wow! I want those seats for my project! Where did you pick those up from?
