Yokohama AD08s

Post by DangerJim »

I had Yokohama AD08s fitted on the front today (stock 15s) and they are amazing.
Previous tyres were T1Rs which were great but the AD08s blow them out the water. They just grip and feel amazing, I was suprised at how much I could throw at them. Noticeably heavier steering but the car feels so much more planted. I'd definitely recommend them :-)

yup good tyres had them on my old mr2 at the front on 15's and luckily they are all round on my new one on 16's.

that said i think the space saver tyres would be better than the toyos

How are you finding the wear on them?

I need a couple of rears but Camskill has them under the trackday section which makes me think they're not the best choice for us newly labelled "Emergent Service Workers"

not had the car long to tell really, but i do need new ones soon and im sure the old owner iirc said they have been on 5k miles, but with just over 300hp and used as a weekend toy they were never going to last long

I think I'll keep looking then. They don't seem to make them in the size I'm after anyway.

Thanks

no they dont in 15's, i was lucky on my old turbo as i broke a car with decent yokos - but they dont make that type anymore, 15's in stock tyre sizes are hard to find unless you want 'ok' tyres or full track day ones like 888's

I've got some 16" Bk Racing things on so was looking for 245/45/16.

Just started looking but I don't seem to be spoilt for choice!

Yeah it looks like I might end up coming down a bit.

It probably wouldn't be noticeable but I would know they were skinnier and I like 'em wide!

I run them all round on my turbo, got nearly 8k out of the rears, that's with several hard launches and a few doughnuts. Fronts are on nearly 10k with a little while left on them. Rubbish in the snow though! haha!

Better than any sports tyre I've ever used in the snow. :thumleft:

I've been through 8 on my daily and they do wear fairly quickly with daily use. Brilliant in the wet and were actually OK in the snow but heard that they aren't effective under -8. could be bull$h1t though!

How many miles do you get out of a set?

On a side, I saw the thread title and I'm suprised Marf was so late to post!

Need to pull my finger out and order mine!

I'd say around 5k maybe a bit more but no chance it was near 10. Basically they lasted me about a year at a time which was just insanely expensive considering it was £320 for 15"s for my daily.

No question about it they are top quality tyres - probably the best for daily use in all conditions but you've got to go in with your eyes open and realise these are just not going to last as long as cheaper, harder rubber. Depends what you use your mr2 for after all.

You run a V6 though to be fair.

245/40/17s would cost me £330
215/40/17s would cost me £299

£629

Let's say £15 a corner to get them balanced legitimately.

£689 :silent:  :-# :pale:

Thats exactly what I would need was going to price them up when I needed some new tyres but  did not realsie they were the best part of 700 shiney pounds :(

The price you pay for goodness I suppose :-)

According to their spec sheet they are rated down to -10c.

You gotta pay to play, looking at the thick end of 800 for a set for my RX.
