MR2 and Supercharger Decals

Post by munter »

A few folk have been digging around for where to get your replacement decals from and this one popped up:

http://www.awsigndesign.co.uk/mr2toyota.html

I have no idea what the quality is like but the owner Alan is running an updated door "Supercharger" decal design for me with the two colours and outline so I'll let you know once I get a set. He's charging £9.99 plus 3.65 recorded delivery per set which seems very reasonable.

They aren't screenprinted so not to restoration quality, I do imagine they'll be fine for the rest of us though!

Could be a good option for those missing the hard to find SC decals in particular.

His email is [email protected]

Cheers

That is worth knowing.

I am intending to get my SC resprayed at some point after some minor bodywork touchups along with the brake light spoiler so will need some of these.

Just recieved the decals from Alan and have to say I'm impressed with them. Time will tell how well they wear, but he's got very close to the originals. Even the charcoal has an element of the original sparkle effect. I measured the originals before I removed them and gave Alan the measurements so I can say they 100% accurate in terms of sizing/spacing.

Here is a bit of the original decal that I managed to save.

Here are the new decals. Pretty good I think you'd agree?

Now I just need to figure out if I'm going to use them as I do like the car without the door decals...

Removing the decals

Out of interest, what's the best way to get any decals off?

I just used a bit of an old cassette tape box to scrape them off. Some talked about using a heat gun at the time but I didnt want to do this - even though it might have saved some time!

Peter if you want to stand in the street/drive hair drying your car then you're a braver man than me!

I removed the 'racing' stripes from my 206 using a heat gun and stanly blade. As long as you are careful it's a doddle. Stand about 2 feet away and apply heat.

I don't stand in the street (don't live in a street even)

Hairdrier to warm & soften the decals, not to dry the car

Simples (said the meercat) :)

If I had to do it with car on road I would do the side next the pavement first, then turn the car round
