[Mk2] [NA] Speedo/Rev Counter/Power Steering connected?

Post by weasilfreak »

i have a bit of an odd problem with my 92 N/A. A few weeks back i was driving along and suddenly the speedo, rev counter and voltage guages flickered, then died for a few seconds before coming back to life again whcih has happened quite a few times since. Car drives perfectly when this happens. more recently when it happens, the power steering light also glows or comes on completely and the power steering stops working - pain in the *** when parking. What can i check/replace - any ideas anyone?? UPDATE - its now also affecting the indicators!

Cheers

Al

The PAS does read the speed signal so it turns off at high speed (>50mph as standard)

Cheers for that - it is now failing at low speed and my puny little arms are struggling to park it. So they are related - has anybody got an idea what it might be and how to fix it?

Start by checking your main earths at battery and frunk, and your battery live.

Has the car been stood some time or regularly driven through the winter?

OK, cheers - will check those bits but the car is used every other day all year round. It seems as if every week that goes by, something else stops workiong. The indicators were fine yesterday but now they are being tempramental!
