Hopefully this year ill finally get my behind in gear and get mine looking pretty in carbon. Also been toying with a "budget" compound charger setup. Torn between this or a leary n/a setup.
Much new with the v8 beastie Paul?

I have to get this car finished first then the V8 will be completed second half of the year, that only needs bodywork to finish though.

So glad they have gone to a good home. I couldnt think of a better mk1 project car for them to go on.
Are the wheels going to have black centres and polished rims...

Re: Project MRX350
Yes indeed, black centres and polished dishes along with a black roof which is a TB big engined Mk1 trademark, stolen from the Mk2 Sonic shadows, which I think looks great.

PW@Woodsport wrote:Now to fill these arches i'm going with my alltime favourite period wheels, Borbet A's, these wheels have a serious dish but not a lot of offset, so it's not like they hang outside of the cars original bodywork by miles, in fact the fronts only need a 3/4" extension to the arch..
I love the Borbet A too. They are matching 80´th cars and specially the AW11 so well because of their edged and areial center section. I have them on my AW11 too, with cumstom made center caps:
Also 9x16 +15 mm offset, but with 30mm spacers per side on the front and 40 mm spacers per side on the rear as my MR2 is a bit wider than others:

Re: Project MRX350
That is a beautiful car you have there, any idea who makes the kit?
Re: Project MRX350
In the late 80th the owner of a Toyota dealership was active in the german rally scene and was a professional race driver before. His name is Klaus Fritzinger. His company builded his rally cars themself and they also did some serious mods to Toyotas like turbo conversions for the 4A-GE and power upgrades for the 3S-GTE and 7M-GTE.
Mr Fritzinger used a MR2 Mk1 fitted with a HKS turbo kit in the german rally masters in this time. Therefor a complete widebody kit was designed. Additionally to this rally car about 20 street use AW11 was fitted with this kit peoble could buy.
My MR2 is one of this 20 cars. I own it since 2000 and rebuilded it out of a rusty and crash damaged wreck:
http://www.toyotacarina.de/mr2bericht/karosse.htm
It´s standing still since 2003 with a damaged engine. At first I´ve planned to swap it to SC but my plans changed as I´ve bought a Celica CS in the meantime. After that the plan was to reactivate the MR2 with a standart 4A-GE but a heart disease came in between. Now I´m finally working on my MR2 again and hope it will be back on the road this spring.

Re: Project MRX350
That is really cool. Seriously, if you can cope with the English, start your own thread, we'd all love to hear about your car, it sounds like it's had an interesting history.
I see what you mean about it being a rusty wreck. I think that's the default state for MK1s, always a constant battle!

Re: Project MRX350
I agree Lauren, very cool, i know people in Mk1 circles that would kill for that kit, it looks like a MK2 TRD kit but for a Mk1, there are many kits for the Mk1 that just make it look like a whores handbag, that widebody definiteyl works for me
Have you any idea who has the molds for the kit now?

was just away to say that, looks like a TRD kit for a Mk1
very nice
Re: Project MRX350
The nose is perhaps a little blunt for my tastes but the rest is verrrry nice!
Re: Project MRX350
I rather like that kit (although agree with Coanda about the front) - and yes, I would possibly kill for it
Would you mind starting a new thread with some more pictures?
Thanks

Re: Project MRX350
OK, if there some interests I will start my own project thread. Due to a hard disc crash some years ago I´ve lost most of the older pictures, but I still got enough online to tell the story of the car.
As the company Fritzinger does not exist anymore it´s difficult to say where the molds are now. I know that they´re still exists and I´ve heard that they where sold together with all the stock parts Fritzinger had when they got out of busisnes, but I don´t know for sure who owns them now.
As there are comparsions to the TRD kit for the SW20 I have to add that Fritzinger also designed a widebody kit for the Mk2, sold unter the name "Palatina"
But I have to say the bit more boxy design of the TRD is more my taste.
