Black painted sills on a UM MK2 rev

Do you know if black paint (stone protection type stuff) along the bottom of the sills is standard fitment to UK MK2 rev2's? I've looked at google images and some have it fitted and some don't.

Is it a sign the sills have been worked on before and as sill issues are so common many MR2's have a similar black paint?

If it is standard, do you know of anything good to get the black colour back into it as mine has faided a bit making the car look old. I was thinking about trying the back to black bumber stuff on it..

uk and jdm rev 1 / 2 have black painted sills. The UK are definatley stone chipped underneath the black paint on the UK ones... They might be on the JDM too but im not certain

Just to confirm the above. My Uk Rev 2 had the black paint on the sills. not sure if it makes much difference but my sills were mint.

cheers guys, that helps confirm that its not been touched before. just need to work out what will get them back to black.
