Noble M500 Upgrades & Overhaul
It's going to be a busy winter for my Noble.
Tasks for the winter include:
Remove engine and:
Replace pistons, cams and heads with modified items. Run engine in, then fit bigger injectors and remap.
Design and fit twin or triple plate clutch.
Fit custom track pan baffle kit.
In addition:
Stripdown, prep. and paint front chassis.
Fit high downforce M400 front clam and carbon front undertrays.
Fit quad OEM Hella 90mm HID lights from Wiseman GT.
Fit front mounted engine and gearbox coolers.
Convert PAS air-to-oil cooler to water-to-oil cooler.
Fit fully plumbed-in Lifeline extinguisher system.
Replace heater box.
Replace wiper motor.
So to the dirty work. Front of chassis is showing its age and its 50K miles, so old clam off, and remove all chassis components in front of windscreen.
Front clam removed
Radiator removed. Yuk!

Re: Noble M500 Upgrades & Overhaul
Glad you decided to create a thread for this. I'll be following with interest and no doubt seeing it in the flesh over the winter
Re: Noble M500 Upgrades & Overhaul
Good thread Pete. I remember other day stood in front of your noble as it is in the pics above with you telling me the plan, and thinking "bloody hell this lads got his work cut out here"
All the best with it, gonna be awesome!

Re: Noble M500 Upgrades & Overhaul
This is going to be one truly spectacular car when it's finished.
Will definitely be keeping my eye on this thread and look forward to seeing how it's coming along when I come up.

Re: Noble M500 Upgrades & Overhaul
Update coming soon. Everything removed from chassis and been stripping back to bare metal... Dirty, horrible work...

Yep, already installed. And had gearbox internals fully shotpeened, polished, and reassembled with metal caged bearings etc.

Re: Noble M500 Upgrades & Overhaul
Progress... About 30 hours so far...
New tunnel end plate fabricated. As built, tunnel is low pressure area, causing hot air from front turbo to fill tunnel making cabin uncomfortably hot and handbrake lever and gear lever hot to touch.
New tunnel end plate will accept two hoses from front intakes, creating a high pressure area and will assist in rear clam cooling. Temporarily in place whilst waiting for rubber edging to arrive.
Front chassis stripped of all bolt on bits. Taken back to bare metal, and given one coat of POR15. Two coats of POR Chassis Black still to go on since POR15 is senstive to UV light.
Wishbones away for powder coating and rack components being sourced.
New front floor cut and drilled for 120 or so rivets. Currently held in place by cleco pins whilst i jig the first of 3 new oil coolers.

Nice idea with the tunnel.
It seems to be a trait of many UK cars that they like to heat up the driver in some way

Re: Noble M500 Upgrades & Overhaul
Progress seems painfully slow, but it's all coming together slowly.
Lower wishbones have been replaced with brand new. Upper wishbones are very light used, grit blasted and powder coated. Had a set of 90 shore poly bushes made with stainless inserts. All new nuts and bolts.
Cavalier ball joint machined to fit Noble wishbone, and pressed into place.
New track rods, track rod ends and boots.
Wheel arch scrubbed clean, painted in satin black, and old steel screws replaced with stainless.
One side fitted:
