A number of you probably already know my car either from facebook, MR2OC or because Flamby used to own it a few years ago. However, it dawned on me I've never really posted about it on here, so it's time to correct that!

She's a beauty! I'm a sucker for an 8B6 tubby with TE37s, for obvious reasons.
Nice photos etc. Did you use a GoPro?

Re: Shinny's Caribbean Blue Tubby - The End :(
Must get one ordered then. It's been on my "To do" list too long
I very much like the car though. Reminds me of Mule no.1 but with much better paintwork.
Any plans for the future with it? Although it's pretty much perfect as is

Re: Shinny's Caribbean Blue Tubby - The End :(
Alloys go in for a refurb tomorrow - it also needs some engine bay tidy-up and maybe some improvements to the chargecooler system. After that, I start to run out of plans that aren't either pie-in-the-sky (eg. a DIY EDFC for the BCs) or just mainanence. I'm sure I'll think up something else at some stage though
Thanks Alan. The wheels at 17x7J and 17x8J, but for some reason don't have offsets stamped on them, so they'll have to remain a mystery.
I'm gunna try some 5mm spacers on them when the wheels are done, although I'm a little concerned there won't be much centre-bore left for the wheels to sit on!

im ordering a set same wheels same colour as yours but they are all 8x17 and et42 so im going to add 15mm spacers rear and 5mm front and if calculations are correct they should be 4mm in of flush rear and 1.65mm in from flush front but i have extended studs on hubs already so im ok there

Sounds good
Just one thing... studs are not the same as the center bore
Re: Shinny's Caribbean Blue Tubby - The End :(
very valid point, i didn't realize what you meant at first but it just clicked,
ill get them and see how it goes fingers crossed ive got hubcentric 10mm rear spacers on now so just gonna add 5mm shimms on each corner and give it a whirl
car looks amazing btw my fave colour
what did you do with your single exit and iirc didn't you have rp01's at 1 point ?
nice touch with the dials too

Re: Shinny's Caribbean Blue Tubby - The End :(
Single exit exhaust was sold as I never liked the look of it... and it was too quiet for me!
Still got the RP01s - they're my track wheels, so haven't seen much action this year. However they're on the car at the moment as the TE37s are in teh back of the BMW

Really coming round to RP01s. I used to hate them, think they were too boring looking, but definitely considering for the Beams...

It's easy to mistake clean and simple for boring...
Dunno about you, but I can never be doing with over-complicated wheels. They're there to compliment the car, not distract you from it IMHO
I put some really simple 17" TSWs on my old rev5... they weren't a quality wheel or that much of a departure from stock, but they really worked nicely on what what a very neat, almost completely standard car...
Of course there's always' Tony's blue tubby sat on 17" RP01s:
Never underestimate the power of understatement
Re: Shinny's Caribbean Blue Tubby - The End :(
Lovely car and liked the time laps vids
Re: Shinny's Caribbean Blue Tubby - The End :(
Another simple mod last night.... a proper rear foglight tell tale:

Great car/pics mate, I remember when Fizz owned this car.

I'd love a set of 17" RP01s, but they're always up for sale in 16".

Re: Shinny's Caribbean Blue Tubby - The End :(
Just completed my LED mods to the HVAC controls, bringing them inline with my red/blue interior theme from a badly bodged blue LED conversion (don't give up the day job, Flamby!). After I found my LED bulb and blue tint gel method didn't work here, I took a different approach. The light channels were removed from inside and individual LEDs plus two LED strips have been carefully placed inside to light everything up adequately. Not the simplest mod I've ever done...
Next I need to learn how to take a non-blurry photo
