[Mk2] [Generic] Stripping the car!

Post by Tsia »

So, after deciding that the easiest way to get a bit more oomph without spending much was to strip the car of unnecessary parts, I got to it. (No this isn't related to my bonnet catch failing )

Does anybody have any little hints/tips for any hidden heavies that're tucked away anywhere? And how do people get around having nowhere to 'mount' the window controls? I'm thinking about making a little bracket for them..

Cheers

I personally wouldn't strip your car unless it's a track car.

I had a stripped corsa ages ago. All interior (apart from dash and door cards) removed all sound deadening (very heavy stuff)

It was like driving a tin can, was awful. Put it all back in #-o

I'm not too fussed on the comfort to be honest, I do one long journey a month and the rest are tiny little journeys. I'd be interested to see a few interior shots of some stripped or 'semi stripped' 2s...

I'm sure there used to be a website years ago where someone had stripped one and weighed each part when it was removed. Anyone remember this?

Also bear in mind it will be very noisy inside if you strip it aswell.

I know the website you mean. I can't find it at the moment, but I have found these instead:

That first link is really useful, thanks!

But yeah, I started to remove some bits (carpets etc) and oh god yes it's noisy, but hey, I'll just sing a bit louder. ;)
