My tubby in Belgium

Re: My tubby in Belgium
Well, alot of (mostly negative) things happened the last few months.
The 16th of September I left for another 3 days of Nordschleife-fun. Saturday morning, after doing only 1 lap, my battery light went on ... Seemed that my alternator went bad. Since I was 250 miles from home I wouldn't be able to make it, so I had to go to a toyota garage and see if they could repair. Many hours/days (and $$$) later my 2 was finally ready to go home (we were then monday afternoon the 19th) So when I was finally going home, I decided to put the hammer down on the autobahn (= no speed limit) After almost 3 years of ownership I felt the time was right to see how much the old lady was still capable of ...... 146mph. And then ... it went all wrong again. I heared a strange noise comming from the back of the car. At first I thought/hoped it was a bottomplate who had come lose, so I decided to take the first exit and have a look. While taking the exit the car started acting weird and all of sudden all the lights on the dash went on ..... Lifting up the engine bonnet showed no good, the clunking noise was comming from underneath the valve cover.
So there I was, still 200 miles from home, with, wath sounded like a broken engine. The only thing I could do at that point, was calling my dad and hope that he was willing to come and pick us up with a trailer.
So there I was again, in the middle of nowhere, waiting for my dad to come and pick us up. Approximately 8 hours later he arrived and of we went for what was going to be a 5 hour drive.
Later, back home again, we took the engine apart and as we suspected the engine was damaged.
I'm going to end this very sad story with a possitive outcome: the engine is overhauled and its back in the MR2. 2 Days ago (8th december) the car was finally ready and now its running again
Oh,while it was out, I also decided to overhaul the gearbox.
The only lap I did that weekend:

I took it really really really easy in the rain There's literally no grip at all in the wet.

Re: My tubby in Belgium
Some pictures/videos from last year. Went 2 times to the Nordschleife and did 1 trackday at Abbeville (France). Didn't had any unexpected costs this year (knock on wood) except 2 small capacitors costing 0,06 each.
